ISMAIL KADARE UNDER THE LENS OF GERMAN-SPEAKING TRANSLATORS

Abstract
Ismail Kadare, one of the most popular Albanian authors, has been translated and received with great interest by German-speaking readers and critics. The works of Kadare have been translated into German by several well-known translators, who have played an important role in disseminating Kadare's works to German-speaking readers. Through their lens, the German translators offer a unique approach to Kadare's texts, bringing their depth and complexity to a completely different cultural and linguistic context.Kadare has been very well received in German-speaking countries, and its translators have played an important role in this success.
Several of Kadare's works, including “The General of the Dead Army” and “Chronicle in Stone” have been lauded for their powerful stories, characters, and sharp, poetic style. German critics describe these works as brilliant combinations of history and mythology, with elements of magical realism and deep political commentary. This paper will include three countries: Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where Ismail Kadare's literary work has been widely translated and acclaimed. In general, German-speaking translators have been sensitive to Kadare's style, trying to preserve the authenticity of his voice and adjust it in a way that resonates with German readers. This connection between the translators and Kadare has positively influenced his work's international perception and recognition.
