WAR AND PEACE OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION ARMY
Gëzim OSTRENI
Abstract
Macedonia organized a referendum on independence, adopted a constitution, and prepared for elections. As part of the agreement, the Army of Yugoslavia was withdrawn, and the Army of Macedonia was formed.
The Republic of Macedonia, after independence, did not take care of its democratic development, so that the Albanians were not forced to seek the last way out at the beginning of the NLA war in 2001, which ended with the amendment of the Constitution, according to the demands of NLA expressed in Communication number 6 and Memorandum.
The 113th Brigade "Ismet Jashari - Kumanova" squad of the NLA in development, on January 6, went to Tanuše, marking the date of the origin of the National Liberation Army and its war in Macedonia.
At the onset of the conflict, the Parliament, government, and political parties were determined to suppress the NLA by extending the border strip in Western Macedonia to 10 kilometers. This decision replaced the option of declaring a state of war, legally enabling the entire ARM (Army of the Republic of Macedonia) to operate within that area and beyond, utilizing all available forces and resources. Operational headquarters were established, and the army committed to implementing the 'Decisive Response' Offensive to eliminate the NLA, conducting operations such as 'MX' on the Western Front in Tetovo, 'MX” on the Northern Front in Kumanovo, and operations in Kondovo, Vacksince, Aračinovo, and other areas.
