DEMO-SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE REPUBLIC OF NORTH MACEDONIA (2014–2022)

Abstract
This paper addresses the key aspects of demographic developments in the Republic of North Macedonia during the period 2014–2022, with a particular focus on the trends in population numbers and their structural composition. The analysis is based on official statistical data and considers geographical, historical, and socio-cultural factors that have influenced population trends during this period.
The paper presents the geographical position of North Macedonia and its division into statistical regions, which plays an important role in the spatial distribution and development of the population across different territories. The study analyzes the progression of the population size from 2014 to 2022 and the population density across different regions, highlighting notable changes during this period. According to official data, population density in North Macedonia was 83.0 inhabitants/km² in 2014, decreasing to 73.2 inhabitants/km² by 2022.
This study employs descriptive, analytical, comparative, statistical, graphical, and cartographic methods, relying on data from the State Statistical Office of North Macedonia. It examines the gender structure of the population, analyzing changes in the male-to-female ratio over the years and the demographic implications of this distribution.
The study also presents data on the educational, ethnic, and religious structure of the population, shedding light on the social and cultural characteristics that shape North Macedonia's demographic profile.
The paper concludes that to improve demographic indicators and stimulate natural population growth, it is essential to implement effective policies. These should include support for young families, provision of stable employment opportunities, and improvement of social conditions for youth.
