ALBANIAN LANGUAGE VERSUS GLOBALIZATION
Hana DARDHISHTA
Abstract
Today, globalization involves all civilizations, all cultures and societies. As far as globalization is concerned, although it is based on the so called economic liberalization, we all know that it is above all a diverse process. We say so because the diversity and complexity of globalization derive from the involvement of different civilizations, which also refers to different cultures in global streams. Regarding our cultural heritage and tradition, it is well preserved so far, but, as it happens everywhere in the world, the general global trends are not sparing it. Having in mind that the language is the most vital part or element of our culture, this paper will deal with the issues of Albanian language, or our language, versus globalization.
Being in close contact with other languages and cultures around, languages themselves interact as they have never done before in human history, and this, above all, is due to the extraordinary development of the information technologies, including internet, mobile telephony, satellite television, etc. In conclusion, we have to be very careful in preserving of what is ours, both language and culture in general.
