Hava MUSTAFA

Abstract

The Republic of North Macedonia has faced new challenges on the way to membership in the European Union. In order to meet these challenges, it is important to improve public administration and inform the public about European values, operating systems, as well as the changes that membership brings in the future. The study has focused attention on the way public opinion is informed about the process of Macedonia's integration into the European Union. In addition, the role of communication, especially the structure of communication in public administration, in terms of information sharing on activities related to this process, has been researched. Also, it was examined how well-informed the public opinion is about the structure of communication in the various ministries. The study also addressed the current aspects of communication practices, inside and outside the public administration, in the context of the European Union. Emphasis has been placed on improving EU mechanisms and strategies to restore communication with citizens, especially in the Western Balkans and in particular with the RMV. To carry out this study, an empirical method was used, including a survey in 4 different ministries. The results are adapted to the hypothesis of the study and have confirmed the importance of the role of communication in informing public opinion. Also, the need for the involvement of public institutions in the processes of shaping the policy for informing the public opinion was emphasized.
